Big Win: A servant leader dedicated to equipping and empowering volunteers and staff, ensuring all Production and technology aspects of live audio, video, and lighting (AVL) operate with excellence, integrity, and alignment with Liquid Church’s mission.
Reporting Structure: The AVL Technician reports directly to the Technology Director and collaborates closely with the Worship Experience Pastor and Production Director. This full-time position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, generally Sunday through Thursday, fully onsite.
Responsibilities:
This role exercises independent judgment in determining production approaches, troubleshooting complex system issues, and recommending solutions that support Liquid Church’s ministry objectives.
Audio Production
Audio Mixing & Production: Mix live services and events as needed and support live audio execution across campuses.
Coach & Provide Technical Leadership to Audio Engineers: Build strong relationships with campus audio engineers while setting standards for mix quality, system consistency, and execution. Partner closely with the Worship Experience Pastor to ensure live sound aligns with the worship vision and production strategy.
Support Audio Systems: Partner with the Technical Director to ensure all Liquid audio systems are functioning optimally by repairing, replacing, and upgrading equipment when needed, such as consoles, microphones, cabling, signal flow, speakers, and more.
Post Production: When needed, support our central creative team with audio mixing for videos and audio capture as needed.
Video and Lighting Production
Manage and Support Timecode Systems: Oversee and maintain all timecode systems for triggering LED screens, lighting, and audio scenes during live performances. This includes integrating Resolume and the necessary hardware for the broadcast campus and future locations while developing the vision and strategy to elevate our production capabilities.
Support Video & Lighting Systems: Partner with the Technical Director to ensure all Liquid video & lighting systems are functioning optimally by repairing, replacing, and upgrading equipment when needed, such as consoles, cameras, cabling, signal flow, fixtures, and more.
Research and Innovation: Evaluate emerging production technologies and make strategic recommendations that advance Liquid Church’s worship and broadcast vision.
Coloring and White Balance: Understanding of white balance and matrix color practices for live video production to ensure excellence in video streaming, recording, and playback in campuses.
Weekend Experience Production Support
Weekend Experience Production Support: Play a critical role in fostering a culture of alignment and collaboration across campuses by building relationships with volunteers and leaders. Provide consistent coaching, feedback, and training to empower teams for success.
Visiting Campuses: Regularly visit campuses to build relationships, ensure system consistency, and raise the level of production excellence.
On-Call Production Support: Act as a secondary contact for AVL system emergencies, ensuring rapid response times and minimizing disruptions to services and events.
Volunteer Training and Development: Develop and deliver in-person training, creating standard practices and templates that equip volunteer teams with confidence and clarity.
Broadcast Stream Quality Assurance: Ensure consistent, high-quality audio and video performance across broadcast streaming to Church Online, YouTube, and campus streaming platforms.
Midweek Repair and Troubleshooting: Help ensure that the appropriate equipment is available and working to deliver excellent weekly in-person and church online services.
Production Strategy and Development
Develop New Production Systems: Collaborate with the Technical Director and Worship Experience Pastor to strategize and implement technology solutions for new campus launches, venue expansions, or upgrades to existing systems and spaces. This includes overseeing projects such as establishing a Church Online broadcast room, launching a new broadcast campus, and developing new methods for syncing worship and post-message experiences.
Support Current Production Systems: Contribute to developing a Refurbishment Plan, identify key areas for improvement as funding becomes available, and collaborate with the Technical Director to manage the upgrades.
Support Events with Production Leadership: Collaborate closely with the experience team to provide AVL support for in-house events, productions, and any external venue rentals at Liquid Church.
Central Worship Support
Manage Instrument and Stage Equipment: Develop a comprehensive documentation system to track, repair, and upgrade campus worship equipment, including keyboards, drum sets, drum heads, microphones, and live performance accessories. Additionally, provide recommendations for future purchases and gear upgrades.
Support Worship Events: Provide support for events such as workshops, Worship Nights, Legacy events, team nights, and other events as requested by the Worship Experience Pastor, whether in a production or worship capacity.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience: At least 3 years of hands-on experience developing and troubleshooting audio, video, and lighting equipment and systems.
Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading multi-site teams, fostering alignment, and developing volunteer leaders in a high-pressure environment.
Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of technology from audio systems, lighting consoles, video and streaming systems, and codecs, cameras, lenses, and production techniques.
Innovative Spirit: Ability to assess the church's AVL needs and propose innovative solutions that enhance the worship experience and align with Liquid’s mission.
Abilities: A creative mindset and technical expertise are needed to produce high-quality services and events while simultaneously leading others.
Project Management: Ability to see multiple projects through to completion and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Relational ability: Works well with Staff and volunteers of varying personality types.
Spiritual Maturity: A person who regularly practices learning God's Word, allowing God to renew their mind, and being obedient to what they learn.
