Objective
The Design Lead plays a vital role in the mission of The Church of Eleven22® by maintaining and enhancing the church’s visual identity through original design work and creative leadership. This role supports the Creative Director in shaping graphics across a variety of ministry platforms, including weekend services, conferences, discipleship initiatives and devotionals, while also fostering the growth and collaboration of serve staff and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and Creative Development
- Plan, develop and execute original graphic content in alignment with the ministry of Eleven22
- Ensure all designs are visually compelling, on-brand and meet communication goals
- Create graphics for weekend services, conferences, discipleship resources and other churchwide initiatives
- Maintain and update a library of visual assets for use across church platforms
- Team Development and Collaboration
- Assist in recruiting and fostering the growth of new serve staff and design contributors,coordinate with designcontractors to ensure project goals and deliverables are met
- Collaborate with the Design Project Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth workflows
- Creative Leadership and Accountability
- Maintain a strong understanding of branding, marketing strategies and the role of design in church communication
- Develop and implement design standards and guidelines to ensure consistency across all church materials
- Manage multiple design projects with excellence, meeting deadlines while upholding quality standards
- Track project timelines and deliverables, proactively communicating progress and addressing challenges
- Provide creative input in planning and strategy sessions, contributing to storytelling and visual direction
- Identify opportunities for improvement in design processes and ministry-wide initiatives

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication or related field preferred
- Three plus years of professional design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating diverse creative work
- Proficiency in industry-standard design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, Figma) preferred
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior designers or volunteers a plus
- Ministry or nonprofit experience a plus
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work may vary based on the needs of the church.
The church has several big events, (“All-Skates”) throughout the year to help further the mission of Eleven22. These events are mandatory for all staff to be in attendance and may vary, depending on the vision cast for the current year.

Work Environment
This position is based in a professional office environment and regularly uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiersand filing cabinets. Occasional travel to other campuses or event locations may be required.
Physical Demands
This role is primarily sedentary and involves prolonged periods working at a computer, designing and editing visualcontent.
Ministerial Exception
The ministerial exception furthers the purposes of the Free Exercise and Establishment Clauses of the First Amendment by barring legal claims against church bodies by staff members who perform religious functions. All church pastors are subject to the exception, but a formal ministerial credential is not required. While there is no rigid formula to determine other church staff members that qualify, various factors are considered to determine which staff members are subject to the ministerial exception (please see handbook).
