Position Overview
Southall Church is a healthy, multiplying church in Franklin, TN with a vision to bring the life of Jesus to our families, neighbors and nations. We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Media & Graphic Designer to help visually communicate the message and mission of our church.
This role will help shape the visual expression of Southall across both digital and physical platforms. From social media graphics to printed booklets, event materials, and apparel, this designer will help bring clarity, creativity, and consistency to the way our church communicates.
Role Summary
The Media & Graphic Designer serves as a key member of the Communications & Creative team, helping translate messaging into compelling visual design. This role focuses primarily on graphic design for both digital and print environments while also supporting social media content creation and digital storytelling.
Working closely with the Communications & Creative team, this role helps ensure Southall’s visual arts are visually engaging, mission-aligned, and reflective of the life and culture of our church.
Key Responsibilities
- Design graphics and visual assets for social media, digital communication, sermon series and ministry initiatives, ensuring all content reflects Southall’s brand and communicates clearly and creatively.
- Create printed materials including booklets, event materials, signage, lanyards, apparel designs, and other physical assets that support the life of the church.
- Translate messaging and ministry goals into visually compelling designs that help people clearly understand and engage with the church’s mission.
- Collaborate with the Communications Director and creative team to maintain brand consistency across all digital and print platforms.
- Design graphics and visual assets that support social media engagement, helping extend the impact of weekend services and church initiatives throughout the week.
- Assist with the creation of social media content by developing graphics, visual layouts, and design-driven posts that align with Southall’s digital voice.
- Work alongside the video team to develop cohesive visual content that supports storytelling, testimonies, and ministry highlights.
- Prepare design files for print production and coordinate with vendors when necessary to ensure high-quality final products.
- Support major church initiatives and seasonal events (such as Easter, Christmas, VBS, camps, and outreach efforts) by developing creative assets that support promotion and communication.
- Collaborate with volunteer photographers and videographers to help capture moments that tell the story of what God is doing in and through Southall.
- Maintain organized design files, templates, and brand assets that support the creative team’s workflow.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated mature Christian character and personal commitment to Jesus Christ.
- Strong graphic design ability with a portfolio demonstrating creativity, attention to detail, and visual story telling.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) or similar design platforms.
- Experience designing for both digital platforms and printed materials.
- Ability to translate ideas and messaging into engaging visual design.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with creative teams, ministry leaders, and volunteers.
- Creative, proactive, and committed to excellence.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
- Understanding of social media platforms and visual content strategies.
SCHEDULE: Sunday - Thursday
HOURS: 40 (must be available for special events, church meetings, etc)
COMPENSATION: TBD
STAFF LEVEL: Designer: reports to the Project Manager
