McLean Bible Church (MBC) looks for individuals with a wide variety of gifts and talents who are dedicated to Jesus Christ and are living a lifestyle consistent with our Vision, Values and Standards of Christian Conduct. The Worship and Outreach Director is responsible for creating an inviting worshipful environment for the congregation and organizing MBC Arlington to serve the community.
As a Worship Director, this person will be responsible for overseeing the worship portion of services, including singing, musical selection and arrangement; training and shepherding volunteers and musicians; collaborating with all MBC Location Worship Leaders to ensure consistent quality and theology across all of our Locations. This responsibility will include some commitment to our Tysons Location.
As an Outreach Director, this person will be responsible for organizing and executing outreach to the community while equipping the church to participate.
Duties and responsibilities (Essential Functions)

Worship (MBC Arlington)
- Assist the Location Pastor in creating and cultivating the worship singing culture of the Arlington Location
- Responsible for arranging music, helping musicians grow in their ability to play the arrangements skillfully, leading the band through arrangements during rehearsal and service
- Collaborate with the Location Pastor to plan weekly worship services, especially as relates to musical selection and arrangements
- Weekly service planning including song selection and arrangements for weekend and services (including leading vocal and band rehearsal weekly).
- Oversee leading worship for weekend Location services, as well as weekly Staff/ Directorship meetings
- Disciple, mentor and develop Worship leaders and teams who can rotate and provide quality worship
- Recruit, train, organize, and shepherd music and production volunteers serving with bands and production teams.
- Lead worship for special events (Good Friday, Christmas, weekday events, etc.).
- Participate in songwriting, arranging, and recording.
- Serve at other MBC Locations, as needed; Collaborate with staff at those Locations to ensure consistency in messaging and quality.
- Help plan and lead weekly services with the Location Pastor and other pastoral staff, focusing on musical selections and arrangements
- Understand and help thoughtfully arrange the various elements of the worship gathering: songs, prayers, Scriptures, exhortations, commissioning, and ordinances
- Oversee arrangements and lead rehearsal for services and special events; this could include loading tracks into mainstage prior to rehearsal, etc.
- Help encourage, equip, and empower new musicians
- Other Worship responsibilities as requested and approved by Location pastor.
Outreach
- Organize and plan outreach events that serve our cities through MBC Arlington’s existing partnerships
- Train, equip and support outreach volunteers
- Train, equip and support outreach team leads
- Form supportive relationships with outreach partners
- With location pastor, take opportunities to break new ground and form new partnership. that enable MBC Arlington to do justice and fulfill the great commission.
- Oversee, organize and grow Co-Working Space at MBC Arlington to serve members and our city.
- Plan and recruit volunteers for Middle School/High School ministry events
- Other Outreach responsibilities as requested by Location Pastor
Qualifications
- Experience with IEMs, talkback mics, and some live audio required
- Experience with Planning Center, ProPresenter, Multi-tracks, and Mainstage
- Skilled vocalist and instrumentalist with ability to deliver a mix of musical genres to satisfy a diverse congregation and to include/accommodate a variety of instruments and vocal styles (contemporary, big band, classical, pop, inspirational, gospel, choral, traditional, etc.)
- Proven success at multi-tasking, time management, and prioritizing.
- Views congregational singing as a spiritual function not just a musical one
- Ability to handle sensitive issues and maintain confidentiality and trust regarding Director and member information.
- Proven ability to work with and maintain positive, loyal relationships with those inside and outside the church.
- Ability to recruit, develop, empower and equip volunteers, direct reports or other stakeholders.
- Love for Jesus and a desire to see lives and communities changed by the gospel.
- Mature team player, with a passion for ministry and a dynamic walk with Christ
- Punctual, attention to detail, team player, musician's ear
- Experience in multicultural music and ministry
- Minimum Degree - bachelor’s degree
- Minimum Experience 3 to 5 years’ experience in leading worship preferred
- Commit to MBC Arlington Location as their local church
- Passion for serving the church.
Working conditions
- The Worship and Outreach Director position requires great flexibility in hours available for work, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
- This job operates mostly on a musical stage using equipment such as microphones and speakers.
- This position requires up to 5% local travel.
Physical requirements
Must be able to read, speak, and hear. Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. While performing the duties of this job, the Director of Worship and Outreach is required to stand or sit for long periods of time while using equipment.
