Objective
This position is responsible for supporting core accounting operations by preparing and processing journal entries, assisting with system and process improvementsand maintaining strong accounting controls, while also serving as the backup for Accounts Payable and Giving functions. This role upholds confidentiality and contributes to the financial integrity of The Church of Eleven22® and its subsidiaries.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare month-end close activities, including compiling and analyzing account information
- Maintain an authentic and growing walk with Jesus Christ through the ongoing spiritual disciplines of Bible reading, prayer, personal worship, fasting, confession and fellowship
- Post and process journal entries to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded
- Oversee subsidiary accounting for an affiliated entity, supporting accounts receivable activities, journal entries, and invoicing while maintaining strong accounting controls
- Support daily accounting operations, including cash receipts, disbursementsand general ledger activities
- Collaborate and assist with accounting projects, including system and process improvements and giving‑platform support as needed
- Prepare and file all required 1099 forms in compliance with federal reporting requirements
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items and variances
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, churchpoliciesand internal controls
- Maintain staff confidence and protect operations by keeping all financial information confidential
- Assist with accounting projects and other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance strongly preferred
- Two to four years of accounting experience with a solid understanding of the field’s core concepts, practices and procedures; experience with financial systems, budgeting, financial reporting, data analysisand auditing is preferred (non‑profit experience a plus)
Expected Hours of Work
Work Hours Expectations: 40 hours or more.
Schedule Expectations: Monday through Friday; hours may vary based on church needs.
The church has several big events (“All-Skates”) throughout the year to help further the mission of Eleven22. These events are mandatory for all staff to be in attendance and may vary, depending on the vision cast for the current year.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
This role operates in a professional office environment. It regularly uses standard office equipment such as computers, phonesand photocopiers and requires periods of extended sitting and screen time.
Ministerial Exception
The ministerial exception furthers the purposes of the Free Exercise and Establishment Clauses of the First Amendment by barring legal claims against church bodies by staff members who perform religious functions. All church pastors are subject to the exception, but a formal ministerial credential is not required. While there is no rigid formula to determine other church staff members that qualify, various factors are considered to determine which staff members are subject to the ministerial exception (please see handbook).
