The Technology Director reports directly to the Worship Experience Pastor and leads a team of two within the technology department: the AVL engineer and the AVL technician. The Technology Director works closely with the Creative Arts Pastor, Worship Director, and Production Director. This is a full-time position, scheduled Sunday through Thursday for a total of 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities:
TECHNOLOGY & PRODUCTION
Oversight & Collaboration:
Partner closely with the Worship Experience Pastor, Creative Arts Pastor, and Lead Pastor to understand ministry vision, campus needs, and future growth initiatives, ensuring that technology and production systems support and advance the service experience across all Liquid Church environments.
Technology Team Leadership
Provide leadership, direction, and support for the technology team, including the AVL Technician and Production Systems Engineer, who report directly to the Technology Director.
Establish clear roles, expectations, and workflows that enable the team to operate effectively.
Delegate responsibilities appropriately while ensuring systems are maintained, projects move forward, and technology environments remain reliable.
Invest in the growth of team members through coaching, training, and leadership development, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and technical excellence.
Technology Systems
Oversee audio, video, and lighting (AVL) systems across all Liquid Church campuses and Church Online to ensure every venue is equipped to execute weekend services with consistency and excellence.
Develop and maintain standardized (AVL) systems across campuses, ensuring that technology environments are reliable, repeatable, and scalable as the church grows.
Regularly evaluate production systems to ensure they operate reliably and consistently across campuses.
Events & Production Environments
Provide production leadership for ministry events, conferences, and special gatherings at Liquid Church, ensuring all technology environments are planned, prepared, and executed with excellence.
Collaborate with ministry leaders and the Experience Team to design production systems, staffing plans, and technical workflows that support the goals of each event.
Ensure the production team is equipped and prepared to support events such as conferences, concerts, staff gatherings, and other church-hosted productions.
Repair & Maintenance
Develop a preventative maintenance strategy for all AVL systems and production equipment across Liquid Church campuses, ensuring systems remain reliable and prepared for weekend services and ministry events.
Lead the response and resolution process for technical issues reported through FreshDesk, coordinating with your technology team to ensure timely troubleshooting, repair, and follow-up.
Evaluate recurring technical issues to determine whether improvements in systems, processes, or training are needed, helping campus teams grow in confidence and reduce preventable errors.
Ensure AVL systems, signal flow, and troubleshooting procedures are clearly documented so production teams across campuses can operate systems consistently and confidently.
Training & Leadership Development
Develop and maintain training systems that equip campus production teams to operate Liquid Church’s technology environments with confidence and excellence.
Invest directly in the development of the AVL Technician, Production Systems Engineer, Production Director, Music Director, and key campus production leaders, ensuring they are equipped to troubleshoot systems, train volunteers, and lead production environments effectively.
Create clear training standards and development pathways so production knowledge is consistently passed down and teams are equipped to support systems independently.
Visit campuses to observe production environments, provide coaching, and ensure technology systems are being used effectively and are aligned with Liquid’s vision.
Technical Leadership & Innovation
Stay informed on emerging technologies and best practices in church production, broadcast systems, and live event environments.
Evaluate new tools, workflows, and system architectures that could strengthen Liquid Church’s technology infrastructure and worship environments.
Build relationships with other churches and production leaders to share insights and ensure Liquid Church remains informed and well-positioned as production technologies continue to evolve.
Proactively explore technologies and workflows that allow Liquid Church’s production environments to scale effectively as new campuses and ministry environments are developed.
Technology Strategy & System Development
Develop and maintain a long-term technology strategy for Liquid Church’s audio, video, lighting, and broadcast systems across all campuses.
Evaluate the lifecycle of current systems and create proactive upgrade plans that ensure production environments remain reliable, scalable, and aligned with the future growth of Liquid Church.
Partner with church leadership to forecast future technology needs, recommend system improvements, and guide investments that strengthen worship environments, broadcast capabilities, and campus expansion efforts.
Budget & Stewardship
Manage the technology budget, including forecasting for repairs, maintenance, and future system upgrades.
Work with church leadership to plan and steward capital investments in production systems, ensuring resources are used wisely, and technology environments remain sustainable as the church grows.
CAMPUS EXPANSION & SPECIAL PROJECTS
Campus Expansion Strategy
Partner with the Lead Team to evaluate potential campus locations from a technical and production perspective, helping determine which facilities best support Liquid Church’s worship environments and broadcast needs.
Identify technical requirements and infrastructure modifications necessary to create a consistent Liquid experience at each new location.
Technology Implementation
Lead the planning and deployment of AVL systems for new campuses, including equipment selection, system design, and installation oversight.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors to secure reliable equipment and favorable pricing as Liquid Church expands.
Construction & Project Coordination
Serve as the primary technology liaison for campus launches, remodels, and facility upgrades. Work closely with general contractors, architects, and church leadership to ensure production and broadcast infrastructure is properly integrated into building design and construction.
Special Projects
Provide leadership for major technology and production projects across Liquid Church, including facility upgrades, system redesigns, and large-scale technical initiatives that support ministry growth.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required
Experience: 5+ years of experience working with professional audio, video, lighting, and broadcast systems in live production environments. Experience in church production or multisite ministry environments preferred.
Technical Expertise: Strong working knowledge of AVL systems, including digital audio consoles, broadcast video systems, theatrical lighting environments, signal flow, and production infrastructure.
Spiritual Maturity: A person who regularly practices learning from God's Word, allowing God to renew their mind, and being obedient to what they learn.
Leadership & Project Management: Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage complex production or technology projects from planning through implementation.
Time Management: Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced ministry environment.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical systems and collaborate with staff, volunteers, and vendors.
Relational Ability: Strong relational skills with the ability to lead and support teams of staff and volunteers with varying levels of technical experience and diverse personalities.
